Many adult students come to class with the idea that they are "not artistic". I know from long experience teaching that everyone has the capacity for being artistic and more importantly creative. Clay is a medium where students can experience the delight of their own creativity from an early stage. Producing pieces that you can use at home has a special allure and adding your own ideas to a basic project is a simple way to start tapping into your own creativity.

Basic technique is taught through a variety of simple projects : pinch, slab, coil and sculpture, as well as an introduction to throwing on the wheel. As students become proficient more advanced aspects are introduced along with ideas for more complex projects. Students are encouraged to initiate their own projects and develop their own artistic identity. 2 electric wheels are available for throwing. Stoneware clay is used in class as well as a variety of coloured slips for decoration.All ware is fired to stoneware temperatures and can be used in oven, microwave and dishwasher.
